Stitch the Season

Retreats Q&A

Stitch the Season Retreats Q&A

Is it held online?

Mostly, yes. The weekend will pivot round a specially designed ebook that you will receive prior to the retreat, its a good old-school way of working and as a writer one that I like very much. However, the container to the retreat is a Facebook group where we can introduce ourselves and share our comments and thoughts as the weekend progresses. Overall, it will be low-key, the ebook will guide us and we can share as much as we like on the Facebook group. A separate Instagram group will be available if you prefer to share photos etc that way.

That leads to my next question, I’m not happy with being on camera…

I am not currently using Zoom for the retreats so you don’t need to be. These retreats are places where you can just turn up as you are, pyjamas and all.

How long is the retreat?

It runs from 10.30-8pm on the Saturday and 11-3pm on the Sunday. You can turn up to as much as you wish, but I suggest you blank out your diary for the whole weekend so that it really does feel like a retreat: relaxing, rejuvenating and enjoyable.

I’m only a beginner, is that good enough?

Yes, you will be asked to bring a project that encapsulates the season for you. So you will be stitching on your own project and so at your own level. All the other activities will be designed for beginners, yes.

I’m an old hand, will I get bored?

I hope not! These retreats are rooted in the community that gather here, and the stitching time we enjoy together. The ebooks contain extra activities related to the season and are designed to be fun and interesting.

Do I have to come to do everything in the ebook?

Absolutely not! The whole package includes meeting online, following the ebook, sharing our work, and enjoying stitching the season. However you can totally design it to work for you. You might just want to focus on stitching your own project and connecting on Facebook with other stitchers; you might prefer to commit to just one day. Whatever works for you is perfect.

Can you tell me something more about the ebooks?

As well as being a rather compulsive stitcher, I’m a writer, and compiling an ebook to accompany our stitching weekends seemed a thoughtful addition. Which one of us hasn’t enjoyed receiving something uplifting in the mail? Well, it came from that sense. They are short ebooks that outline the weekend and it includes a wealth of seasonal detail. I hope you enjoy them.

What are the activities like?

They will relate to stitching and nature and will be simply designed to be finished over the weekend. We will be spending some time outside if possible and there will be plenty of encouragement to embrace the season through our senses as well as our stitching.

Did I read that there will be a contribution to charity?

Yes, that’s right. Because I’m running a business committed to inspiring women and girls, I thought it would be great to contribute to a charity that benefits females by way of our stitching time. In 2022, £5 from your payment will go to charity. The charity I have chosen for 2022 is here.

Any day spent stitching is a good day
